Retirement ceremonies are time-honored traditions of our rich Naval Heritage. It's the nation's and Navy's expression of appreciation for a job "well done." The ceremony culminates a career of unselfish dedication, devotion to duty, and honorable service to one's country. It was a day of great significance, marking the end of a rewarding life within the World's Greatest Navy. It was also a day of many surprises.
